LAPD Meets With Woman Claiming Assault By Bill Cosby
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com/AP) — A Los Angeles police spokeswoman says detectives met Friday with a woman who is a possible victim of sexual assault by comedian Bill Cosby.
Officer Jane Kim said the department could not release any additional details.
Police Chief Charlie Beck on Thursday had called on anyone who believed they were victims of sexual abuse by Cosby to come forward, regardless of whether their claims were too old to be prosecuted.
An email message sent to Cosby's attorney Martin Singer was not immediately returned.
Cosby was sued Tuesday by Judy Huth, who claims the comedian forced her to perform a sex act on him with her hand in a bedroom of the Playboy Mansion around 1974 when she was 15 years old. Cosby's attorneys denied her claims in a court filing Thursday.
Huth and her attorney, Gloria Allred, said they spent an hour-and-a-half on Friday discussing the case with detectives.
Huth provided pictures taken of her and Cosby from that time period.
Allred is hoping other possible victims will come forward.
"They [the police] are inviting individuals to file a report, that is to meet and provide any evidence they may have, and we've accepted his [Chief Beck's] invitation and that is why we are here today," Allred said.
Cosby's attorney said he was going to ask that Huth's case be thrown out as he said she attempted to extort Cosby for money.
Andrea Fujii, reporting for KCAL9 Friday, said Allred would not comment on those allegations.
Meanwhile, crews Friday were cleaning up Cosby's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which was defaced with the word "rapist." The word was written three times on the star, which is located on the south side of the 6900 block of Hollywood Boulevard.
