Lakers Prepared To Offer Carmelo Anthony 4-Year Deal That Could Be Worth Around $100 Million

EL SEGUNDO (CBSLA.com) — Besides LeBron James, all eyes have been on NBA free agent Carmelo Anthony as he continues his tour of potential destinations.

After meeting with the Chicago Bulls, Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks earlier in the week, Anthony met with the Lakers at their training facility in El Segundo.

Anthony, who arrived at the Lakers practice facility in a beautiful red Rolls-Royce Wraith, met with the team shortly after noon for close to three hours.

Lakers Hall-of-Famer and former KCAL9 analyst James Worthy greeted Anthony in his arrival, and General Manager Mitch Kupchack, Jim Buss and Jeanie Buss were among those leading their presentation.

The Lakers have made it clear to Anthony that they would offer him the maximum four-year contract that could be worth close to $100 million, according to a source.

Kobe Bryant, who has been in contact with Anthony for weeks, left his European vacation early to attend the meeting, but he was delayed and unable to attend.

However, Bryant was expected to meet with Anthony later in the day.

After Anthony's meeting with the Lakers, he is expected to meet with Phil Jackson's New York Knicks in Los Angeles.
