Lakers Officially Sign Ed Davis To 2-Year Deal

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.COM) - The Los Angeles Lakers have officially signed and formally introduce free agent Ed Davis, it was announced Wednesday by General Manager Mitch Kupchak.

Davis had a verbal agreement June 16 in Las Vegas during the summer league.

"Ed is a versatile, young frontcourt player who, if he continues to work hard, will be a valuable contributor," Kupchak said. "We look forward to him furthering his development with the Lakers and are excited by what we think he can offer our team."

Davis, who was the 13th overall pick in 2010 for Toronto, appeared in 63 games with the Memphis Grizzlies last season, averaging 5.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 0.7 blocks.

As the Lakers stay busy filling their roster, they are still without a coach.

Top candidate Bryon Scott has had three interviews but no indication if he'll land the job.
