Lakers Drop To No. 7 Pick In NBA Draft, Cavs Get Top Spot 2nd Year In A Row

NEW YORK (CBSLA.com) — The bad lottery luck continues for the Los Angeles Lakers.

In Tuesday's NBA Draft Lottery, the Lakers dropped from the sixth spot down to No. 7 — a position that may affect the team's pursuit of power-forward Kevin Love.

The No. 7 pick does not seem early enough to motivate the Minnesota Timberwolves, Love's current team, into jumping into trade talks with the Lakers.

More striking, however, is the fact that the top spot in the draft, for the second year in a row and for the third time in four years, went to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The order for the top 14 picks will proceed as follows:

1. Cleveland Cavaliers

2. Milwaukee Bucks

3. Philadelphia 76ers

4. Orlando Magic

5. Utah Jazz

6. Boston Celtics

7. Los Angeles Lakers

8. Sacramento Kings

9. Charlotte Hornets

10. Philadelphia 76ers

11. Denver Nuggets

12. Orlando Magic

13. Minnesota Timberwolves

14. Phoenix Suns

The Los Angeles Clippers will have the No. 28 pick.
