Lakers Announce Luke Walton As New Head Coach
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Luke Walton, an assistant coach with the Golden State Warriors and a former player for the Los Angeles Lakers, will be the head coach of the Lakers next season, the team confirmed Friday.
Walton interviewed with the Lakers on Thursday in Oakland.
Luke Walton will become the youngest active head coach in the NBA at 36 years old when he takes over the Lakers.

Walton was a member of both the 2009 and 2010 NBA Championship Lakers teams.
Luke Walton was the Lakers first choice and the only candidate they interviewed, source told ESPN.
Walton will continue working with the Golden State Warriors throughout the NBA Playoffs before joining the Lakers.
Over the past two seasons under Byron Scott, the Lakers totaled 38 wins.
While filling in for Steve Kerr this season, Luke Walton led the Warriors to a 39-4 record.
