One person dies in house fire in Glassell Park

Firefighters discovered a person died in a house fire Saturday in Glassell Park. The blaze was knocked down by firefighters after destroying one building and damaging a second one. 

Firefighters on the scene of Glassell Park house fire that resulted in one fatality. 

The blaze on W. Crestmoore Place was reported at 9:50 a.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

Stewart confirmed one fatality in the fire and said the LA County Coroner will be looking into the cause of death. No details about the victim were released. 

LAFD Arson and Counter-Terrorism Section is conducting a cause investigation, Stewart added. 

The department dispatched 35 firefighters to the scene and they extinguished the flames in 21 minutes, she said.

An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department was transported to the hospital in fair condition for smoke inhalation. 

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
