LA Drivers, Beware: Overnight Closures Planned For 101 Freeway This Week

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Motorists are warned to expect delays because of sporadic closures on the 101 Freeway in Los Angeles for the next four nights as part of an ongoing repaving project.

Caltrans says sections of the freeway will be closed in both directions between midnight and 5 a.m. Sunday through Wednesday.

Officials say lanes will be closed in small sections, affecting only one direction at a time. The closures will occur between Glendale and Cahuenga boulevards.

Crews will install "loop detectors" in the pavement that track travel-time information and speeds to reflect real-time traffic conditions. Installation of the detectors is one of the last phases of a $19 million project to repave the freeway from the downtown area to Hollywood.
