LA County Unemployment Rate Drops To 7.6 Percent
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in Los Angeles County dropped to 7.6 percent in March, down slightly from a revised 7.8 percent in February, according to a report released Friday from the state Employment Development Department.
The 7.6 percent rate was well below the 8.6 percent rate from March 2014.
In Orange County, where seasonally adjusted numbers were not available, the unemployment rate was 4.4 percent, down slightly from 4.6 percent in February.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for California was 6.5 percent in March, down from 6.7 percent in February and below the 7.9 percent rate in March 2014. The comparable estimates for the nation were 5.5 percent in March, 5.5 percent in February and 6.6 percent a year ago.
According to the EDD, total nonfarm employment increased in Los Angeles County by 28,400 jobs between February and March, to reach more than 4.3 million.
