Suspect ditches stolen car during pursuit, tries to jump into innocent woman's car
A pursuit suspect in Newhall tried to hop into an innocent woman's car after ditching his stolen sedan in the middle of the street.
The chase started after the California Highway Patrol spotted a stolen car driving near the Santa Clarita neighborhood. Eventually, the CHP handed over the pursuit to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The suspects cut through traffic on the northbound CA-14 Highway before exiting onto Sierra Highway.
The suspect continued to drive recklessly to lose deputies, driving through red lights twice and nearly hitting another driver while doing an illegal U-turn.
After narrowly dodging the oncoming traffic, the suspect ditched his car at a stoplight after rear-ending another driver. Two people jumped out of the vehicle with deputies close behind.
The driver ran across lanes of traffic in his attempt to evade police before running into a shopping center. After a motorcycle officer stopped in front of him, the suspect tried to hop into a woman's car. However, he gave up after deputies ran up next to the vehicle.
In total, deputies arrested four people from the car.
