LA City Council Approves $5K Reward For 'Purse-Packing Bandit'

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — There's a serial bank robber on the loose and lawmakers are now offering a little incentive to aid in her capture.

The Los Angeles City Council unanimously approved a $5,000 reward on Tuesday for information leading to the conviction of the "Purse-Packing Bandit," a woman who the LAPD believes is tied to 10 bank heists on the Westside.

The FBI is also offering a $5,000 reward.

The robberies began in October 2012, with the most recent holdup happening on July 21.

The woman is described as between 30 and 40 years old and weighing between 130 and 160 pounds, police said. She stands between 5-foot-2 and 5-foot-5.

In each of the holdups, she presented a demand note, then removed a pistol from her purse and pointed it at the bank teller, according to investigators.

Anyone with information was asked to call LAPD Det. Victor Mrin at (213) 486-6840.
