Hit-And-Run Driver Wanted In Koreatown Crash That Killed Bicyclist
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — Police are looking for a driver who fatally struck a bicyclist and left him in a Koreatown street to be hit by a second car.
The crash happened on Wilshire at Catalina Street at about 3:30 a.m. A man in his 30s riding his bicycle west was struck by a car and thrown 30 feet away.
Police say the first driver took off, leaving the bicyclist in the street. The bicyclist was struck by a second car, a BMW, whose driver stopped and waited for police.
"The witness that we do have in the second vehicle, he said he did see someone down in the ground and that's when he accidentally ran him over," LAPD Capt. Elaine Morales said.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released.
Streets around the crash scene were shut down for the investigation.
