Kemp Figurines Will Be In Short Supply At Dodger Game
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Just six weeks after having to apologize to fans expecting a Hello Kitty travel mug, the Dodgers have to respond to another giveaway snafu.
With the New York Mets in town for a weekend series, the Dodgers planned to give away 40,000 figurines of right fielder Matt Kemp at Sunday afternoon's game. Unfortunately for the NL West leaders and fans planning to attend the game at Dodger Stadium, the arrival of about 15,000 of the giveaway items has been delayed because of a shipping and customs issue, the team said Friday night.
The Dodgers will distribute the figurines they have on hand Sunday, and give out vouchers to those fans whose gifts have yet to arrive. Those vouchers can be redeemed Sept. 1-28 at the Top of the Park Merchandise Store during games, or between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on non-game days. Fans will also be able to redeem the vouchers by mail.
On July 10, after a truck carrying a portion of the 40,000 Hello Kitty travel mugs the team planned to give away broke down, the Dodgers handed out similar vouchers to fans. Ironically, those vouchers are supposed to be redeemed by Sunday's game.
