Jurupa Valley Brush Fire Burns Nearly 150 Acres With 5% Containment, Mandatory Evacuation Are In Place

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA) -  A brush fire in the Jurupa Valley that started around 11 a.m. and has now burned close to 200-acres after a second blaze erupted from the first one.

According to the Riverside County Fire Department, the main blaze started in the area of Jurupa Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard, less than a mile from the Riverside Municipal Airport. The combination of flames and windy conditions threatened homes and trigged evacuation orders

Mandatory evacuation orders are in place for people living south of Limonite Avenue to the river bottom, east of Downey Street and now west of Avenue Juan Diaz.

Orders for those west of Van Buren Boulevard have been downgraded to evacuation warnings.

Two water-dropping helicopters and more than 166 firefighters worked to extinguish the flames.
