Judge: He's Inclined To Release Video Of Police Killing Man
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A federal judge says he is inclined to release video of a fatal police shooting in a Los Angeles suburb two years ago.
Judge Stephen Wilson said Monday that he sees no valid reason to keep sealed the shooting of Ricardo Diaz Zeferino in Gardena, California.
Wilson says he'll rule in the next few days. Attorneys for Gardena requested that Wilson stay any ruling he makes so they can appeal it.
News media companies including The Associated Press have asked the judge to unseal the video, saying the public has a First Amendment right to see it.
The unarmed Zeferino was killed in June 2013 by officers investigating a stolen bicycle.
