Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (July 14)
STUDIO CITY (KCAL9) — We have been looking for a change in the forecast and it has arrived. There's a surge of monsoonal moisture streaming through Southern California, and it is translating into mostly cloudy skies and a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
This is going to be one of those "East Coast" feeling days. There's a good deal of mid and upper level moisture moving through the area that will continue into the overnight hours.
Right now everyone has got a shot at a passing light shower. Mountain and desert communities could see a brief thunderstorm. The only caveat to this forecast would be the thick cloud cover. Without sunshine poking through, the instability diminishes.
The cloud cover will help to bring the ambient temperatures down a bit, but with the higher humidity it's not going to feel all that comfortable. The dew points are going to be pretty high in the mid 60s, meaning higher humidity (feeling like South Florida).
Look for a little less in the way of monsoonal moisture for Tuesday. It will still feel pretty humid, but by the end of the week things dry up a bit and inland temperatures will warm as high pressure once again envelops the Southwest corner of the United States.
