Josh Rubenstein's Weather Forecast (Jan. 13)
STUDIO CITY (CBSLA.com) — The big story over the next three days will be the fierce winds and high fire danger. High wind warnings and advisories are in effect for most of the viewing area.
This is a prolonged event as the high pressure over the Pacific slowly drifts to the east. Winds will be sustained around 25 to 35 mph. Some of the top gusts could reach 65 to 75 mph.
Red flag warnings remain in effect through Wednesday. Don't be surprised to see these advisories go longer as the atmospheric setup on Thursday is still pretty similar.
Temperatures will also be above average in the upper 70s to low 80s. Look for an increased on-shore flow by Friday bringing see some minor cooling, but still way above average.
There is absolutely no rainfall in our long term (10-day) forecast. This is very troubling. Ventura County Beaches also have a heavy surf advisory through the day today.
Basin - upper 70s
