Investigation underway in Boyle Heights after shooting involving LAPD officers

No injuries reported after police shooting near Mariachi Plaza in Boyle Heights

An investigation is underway in Boyle Heights after a reporting shooting involving Los Angeles Police Department officers late Sunday evening. 

The shooting happened just before 10:20 p.m. near First Street and Vicente Fernandez Street, according to the department.

Early Monday, they reported that officers opened fire during a confrontation with a man who was armed with a gun. 

Officers were in the area investigating a car that had stopped in the middle of the road and had its doors open. They reportedly found a man in his 20s who was armed with a gun, at which point the officers fired at the suspect. 

He was not struck by their gunfire and attempted to run from the scene but was apprehended a short time later. No information on his identity was provided. 

No injuries were reported in the inicident.
