Investigation Continues Into Shooting Death Of 48-Year-Old Man In Irwindale

IRWINDALE (CBSLA.com) — Deputies Monday will be interviewing possible witnesses who may have information related to the murder of 48-year-old man in the city of Irwindale.

From 4 a.m. to 5:30 a.m., deputies will conduct a vehicle canvass operation to contact drivers and passengers in an effort to obtain information related to the death of Martin Diaz, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Just after 5:30 a.m. on Nov. 25, officers were sent to the 15900 block of Foothill Boulevard for report of a person down call.

Upon their arrival, authorities located a Hispanic man, who was later identified as Diaz, inside of a compact vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

Police said Diaz appeared to be driving east, between the hours of 4:30 a.m and 5 a.m., on Foothill Boulevard when he was shot.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Diaz dead at the scene.

Diaz is survived by his brother, uncle, and parents. He worked for a sprinkler company in Azusa.

The investigation is ongoing as no suspect information is available at this time.
