Investigation continues after 17-year-old boy shot in Menifee

Police are still searching for the gunman that shot a 17-year-old boy in Menifee on Friday. 

It happened at around 9 p.m. in the 26100 block of Newport Road, according to the Menifee Police Department. 

Circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, but police say that the victim walked into a business in the area and asked for help with a gunshot wound to one of his legs.

Paramedics responded to the area and provided treatment before he was taken to a nearby hospital, police said. They say that he continues to recover from the wounds which are not considered to be life-threatening. 

"The incident appears to be isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety," police said. 

They have not yet released information on a possible suspect or motive in the shooting.
