Deadly Shooting Investigation Underway In Hyde Park

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A 24-year-old man was fatally shot Wednesday in Hyde Park.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting incident unfolded shortly after 12:30 a.m. on a sidewalk located in the 2300 block of West 54th Street.

Upon their arrival, authorities located the man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.

Paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where he later died. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

A preliminary investigation revealed the suspects fired several rounds at the victim.

At this time, it remains unclear if the gunmen were on foot or if it was a drive-by shooting.

Detectives do not believe the victim had any gang ties or criminal record.

Authorities are working to determine if the victim was targeted or if the shooting incident was a case of mistaken identity.

The investigation is ongoing.
