Huntington Beach Man Charged In Hit-And-Run Crash Involving Elderly Woman

WESTMINSTER (CBSLA.com) — Officials announced on Friday that a 24-year-old man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident involving an elderly woman in Huntington Beach.

According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, Taylor Kirby, of Huntington Beach, was charged with one felony count of hit-and-run with injury on Thursday.

Around 2:30 p.m. on April 22, Kirby is accused of driving his Dodge Charger in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant.

Surveillance video captured him backing up into an 86-year-old woman as she walked through the lot.

According to police, Kirby allegedly exited the vehicle with a female passenger, walked toward the victim and then fled from the scene without providing assistance.

Upon their arrival, paramedics transported the elderly woman to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the collision.

On April 30, Kirby turned himself into the Huntington Beach Police Department.

He remains out of custody on $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 16.

If convicted as charged, Kirby faces a maximum sentence of three years in state prison.
