How Did A Woman's Body End Up Inside Santa Ana Refrigerator?

SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Detectives were trying to discover Friday how a woman's body ended up inside a refrigerator found at a recently vacated rented garage in Santa Ana.

Police were called to the 1000 block of North Jackson Street about 2 p.m. Thursday by a homeowner who said a couple had moved out two weeks ago, Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

The home has a garage and another structure in the back, where rooms were being rented. The most recent residents of the garage moved out and left the refrigerator, Bertagna said.

As the home was being cleaned up, the cleaners opened the refrigerator and made the grisly discovery, he said.

"We're trying to determine who was living there and when did they leave and what relationship this body has to those people," Bertagna said.

Neighbors told CBS2/KCAL9's Stacey Butler that tenants are always coming and going.

There were no obvious signs of the cause of death, he said. An autopsy is pending.
