LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — Record highs were expected this week as a heat wave moves into Southern California.

Forecasters are predicting a prolonged period of dry and hot conditions with highs potentially reaching the 100s Tuesday and Wednesday, the National Weather Service said.

Strong Santa Ana winds will also continue to batter the region Monday, prompting a red flag warning until 8 p.m. Wednesday for most of the region.
