Homicide investigation launched in Huntington Beach

Police have launched a homicide investigation in Huntington Beach after a man was found dead early Sunday morning. 

Circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear, but officers were dispatched to the intersection of Olive Avenue and Main Street at around 2 a.m. after learning of a man who had suffered significant injuries in the area, according to a statement from the Huntington Beach Police Department. 

"The nature of these injuries are being withheld at this time due to the investigation," police said. 

The man, who remains unidentified, was rushed to a nearby hospital where he later died. 

Investigators have not released any information on a motive or a suspect in the incident. They believe, however, that there is no ongoing threat to the public. 

Detectives with the Orange County Sheriff's Department also responded to the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation.
