Security guard fatally shot at marijuana dispensary in Hyde Park; homicide investigation underway

A man was fatally shot inside of a marijuana dispensary in Hyde Park on Friday evening.

Circumstances leading up to shooting remain unclear, but Los Angeles Police Department officers say that they were called to the dispensary, located in the 6600 block of Crenshaw Boulevard at around 6:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, they found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

On Sunday, they identified the victim as 27-year-old Francisco Alonzo, who worked as a security guard at the store.

Investigators believe that Alonzo was involved in some sort of dispute with the shooter, possibly during a robbery, before shots were fired. The gunman was seen fleeing from the area on foot, police noted.

There was no information immediately available on the shooter.

With SkyCal overhead, shattered glass could be seen on the floor of the dispensary's entry.

Anyone with information on the incident was urged to contact investigators at (323) 786-5100 or (323) 786-5500.
