Woman Arrested On Suspicion Of Posing As Vacationer, Raiding Anaheim Airbnb Unit

ANAHEIM (CBSLA.com) — A 27-year-old woman accused of posing as a vacationer and raiding an Airbnb rental unit in Anaheim was arrested Tuesday night.

Julianne Marie Lavin, who Anaheim police said is homeless, allegedly answered an ad on Airbnb saying she and a male companion were looking to stay in the unit while on vacation. Within two days of checking in, the unit had been stripped of virtually all of its contents.

Lavin is accused of stealing appliances from the high-end short-term rental that included the unit's refrigerator, washer, dryer, mattress, television, dishwasher and dresser, along with clothes and wall decorations. She was charged with grand theft and embezzlement.

The alleged crime took place in the 1800 block of S. State College Boulevard late last month.

Lavin was caught on surveillance footage that police released to the public earlier this month, police said, and was identified with the help of tips from the public.

Police said they're still searching for Lavin's male companion, who has not been identified. The stolen property has not been recovered, police said.

Lavin is being held in lieu of $20,000 bail.
