Hit-And-Run Suspect Arrested In Death Of 2-Year-Old San Bernardino Boy

SAN BERNARDINO (CBSLA.com) — An arrest has reportedly been made in a deadly hit-and-run that killed a two-year-old boy in San Bernardino.

No immediate details on the suspect were available.

Jonathan Montes, known to family as JR, suffered a traumatic brain injury after being struck by a car on Sept. 1 in front of his home on Perris Hill Road and East Base Line Street.

The family says JR was playing at the end of the driveway when he saw his uncle across the street. He ran into the street a sedan driving south slammed into the boy. He went airborne before striking the pavement.

"My baby was so small and to see him fly a hundred feet and not even stop …" said Angel Montes, the child's mother.

JR was hospitalized with severe injuries and placed on life support. The boy succumbed to his wounds on Sept. 4.
