Hit-And-Run Driver Wanted In Fatal 10 Freeway Crash

WEST COVINA (CBSLA.com) — Authorities are searching for a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a woman on the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in West Covina Wednesday morning.

The body was found in one of the eastbound freeway lanes at Sunset Avenue and reported at about 3:30 a.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball said.

The woman was declared dead at the scene, and was withheld pending notification of her next of kin, Kimball said. Investigators have no idea why she was on the freeway, he said.

The CHP alerted nearby law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for any vehicle in the surrounding area with serious front-end damage.

A SigAlert was declared by the CHP at 3:59 a.m. for three lanes of the eastbound freeway. All lanes were reopened about three hours later.

Anyone with information on this crash can call 911 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
