High Surf Advisory Issued For Southland Beaches
HUNTINGTON BEACH (CBSLA.com) — A high surf advisory was in place Sunday for Southland beaches, the National Weather Service said.
Waves were expected to peak Sunday afternoon in L.A. and Ventura counties, with waves of 7-14 feet. Sets of 15-feet are also possible.
The highest surf was expected to arrive at beaches in northern Orange County and southern San Diego County.
The swell is the latest in a string of swells that have arrived in the Southland since strong El Nino storms pounded the coastline earlier this month.
The weather service also warned of strong rip currents, a risk of minor erosion and possibly higher waves near harbor entrances.
Authorities warned that all but the most experienced surfers should stay away from the large breakers.
The advisory is in place through Tuesday.
