Plastic Pile, Debris Burned In Santa Ana Structure Fire
SANTA ANA (CBSLA.com) — Firefighters battled a third-alarm structure fire Saturday in Santa Ana, authorities said.
Firefighters were dispatched to the fire in the 2500 block of South Susan Street at 10:15 a.m., according to an Orange County Fire Authority spokesperson.
A hazardous materials unit was also called to the location, which was located between a plastic recycling center and a building owned by the Irvine Ranch Water District.
More than 80 firefighters were on the scene as crews gained the upper hand shortly before noon.
"This is going to be a long overhaul process," said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito. "The fire is (under) control from where it's
burning. It's going to take a while to get to the middle of it and take it out."
Firefighters were expected to be at the scene until at least 4 p.m., Bommarito said.
No injuries have been reported.
