Hammer-Wielding Man Gravely Injures Woman In East LA

EAST LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A woman was seriously injured Wednesday by a hammer-wielding man in East Los Angeles.
The attack was reported around 2:30 a.m. at a home located in the 3700 block of Whiteside Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Paramedics transported the woman to a hospital in grave condition.
The victim's attacker was also transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during an altercation with deputies. He has since been taken into custody.
Detectives are investigating the case as possible domestic violence.
The relationship between the man and woman involved in the attack was not immediately disclosed.
The investigation is ongoing.
