'Hamilton' Tickets For $10? This Is No Joke

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com)  — The Broadway smash "Hamilton" opens Friday at the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, and there's still one way for you to get a cheap seat.

As in New York,  tickets for the show are expensive and hard to get. A premium seat can cost you more than $1,700. However, there is an alternative: A lottery-style selection process will give fans the chance to see the show for only $10.

Every performance will have 40 tickets available for $10 each that can only be obtained through a lottery. Here's how it works:

To enter, you must download the Hamilton app on your smart phone or visit LuckySeats.com/Hamilton.

After registering, you can enter the lottery beginning two days prior to each performance. Hamilton organizers reported Friday that registrants were seeing a delay in receiving their email verifications, which are required before they can enter the lottery.

The lottery will open at 11 a.m. -- two days prior to the performance -- and close at 9 a.m. the day before the performance. If you win, you will be notified at approximately 11 a.m. the day prior to the performance via email and/or text message.

Each lottery winner will receive two tickets. You must purchase your tickets by 4 p.m. the day prior to the performance or you will lose them.

The tickets will be available via will-call. There's a limit of one entry, per person, per performance. The tickets could be for anywhere in the theater, including the front row, Hamilton organizers said.
