Gunman who shot and killed shop owner at Victorville Galleria still on the run

Store owner shot to death inside Victorville Galleria

Authorities are still searching for the gunman who shot and killed a shop owner inside of the Victorville Galleria over the weekend.

The shooting happened a little after 3:20 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at the popular indoor shopping center, located in the 14500 block of Palmdale Road, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department officials.

Deputies who were sent to the scene arrived and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Frank Pisillias was outside of the mall when he heard the gunfire.

"I start walking toward the door and all of a sudden I see this man run out and he's got a gun in his left hand," Psillias told KCAL News. "I put up my hands and he just keeps going past me unfazed."

He ran inside of the store after that, but it was already too late.

"By the time I got in there was, he wasn't breathing, there was bullet casings on the floor. Everyone's freaking out, there was nothing to be done," Psillias said.

While the victim remains unidentified by authorities, other business owners within the mall say that he ran an electronics stand and was always welcoming and friendly.

Family members also showed up to the mall on Monday, hopeful that they would be able to learn more about what led up to his killing.

"I feel like it's really terrible because he changed his life and was ... turning around," said Creshawna Richmond, the victim's cousin. "It's sad to see he never even made it out of the building."

Investigators did not have any information available on a suspect or motive in the shooting. Witnesses say that there are cameras all over the mall, which should be able to aid in a speedy arrest.

The Victorville Galleria was closed on Monday in order for crews to clear the scene.
