Gunman Who Carjacked Man With Daughter, Forced Them To Withdraw Cash, Wanted By Police

PACOIMA (CBSLA.com) — Police are on the lookout for a gunman who carjacked a man and his seven-year-old daughter outside a Pacoima library and forced the father to withdraw money from an ATM.

No injuries were reported in the crime, which happened about 3 p.m. Monday, Los Angeles Police spokeswoman Officer Wendy Reyes said.

"They were forced into their (own) vehicle, and were taken to an ATM," Reyes said. "They were later released, and the vehicle was found abandoned."

The carjacker reportedly approached the pair at Haddon Avenue and Van Nuys Boulevard and ordered them to get back into their Toyota Tundra. The father was forced to drive to another city and withdraw money from an ATM.

The pair was dropped off near the interchange of the Golden State (5) Freeway and Antelope Valley (14) Freeway, where they were found by a California Highway Patrol officer, according to reports.

The suspect is described as 5-feet-8-inches to 5-feet-10-inches tall and between 150-170 pounds. Police say he was wearing a black hoodie and may live near the area where the carjacking took place.

Anyone with information on the crime can call the LAPD at (818) 756-8861.
