GPS Tracked Mountain Lion To Home Near Griffith Park
LOS ANGELES (CBS/AP) — Tracking data show that a mountain lion that triggered a ruckus when it was discovered under a Los Feliz home was only there a short time, and it quickly returned to the wilderness when left alone.
The National Park Service said Friday the information came from the lion's GPS collar.
On April 13, a worker spotted the lion under a home adjacent to Griffith Park, the sprawling wilderness area in the middle of the city. News media converged as authorities unsuccessfully tried to shoo it out. But the lion was gone when they returned the next morning.
GPS shows the cougar, known as P-22, had left Griffith Park by 6 a.m. on April 13 but wasn't yet at the house. GPS then showed it left the house before 2 a.m. the next day.
