Girl Group Sues Trump After Campaign Performance

PENSACOLA, Fla (CBSLA.com) — A lawsuit has been filed on behalf of three young dancers against Donald Trump's campaign.

The three girls, billed as the USA Freedom Kids, performed a patriotic number, "Freedom's Call," at a January campaign rally in Pensacola.

The song included the lyrics "President Trump knows how to make America great. Deal from strength or get crushed every time."

Video of the performance was watched millions of times online, with some loving the show and others mocking it.

According to CNN, the group's manager, Jeff Popick, filed suit against the Trump campaign with help from attorney Marc Shapiro last week. Popick is also the father of one of the girls who performed.

The suit seeks a maximum of $15,000 in damages.

Popick filed suit because he claims the campaign wouldn't let the girls sell CDs at the event. Popick also claims the girls traveled to another Trump rally in Iowa, where their performance was canceled.

Popick told CNN the attention and controversy that came after the Pensacola performance damaged the song "Freedom's Call," and he says it is not on the group's new album.

The Trump campaign has not responded to the lawsuit.
