Giovani Dos Santos Scores In Galaxy Debut

CARSON (CBSLA.com) — Giovani Dos Santos dazzled in his debut with the Los Angeles Galaxy Thursday night, as the forward scored a goal and added an assist in the club's 5-1 win against Central FC.

The Galaxy were playing in the first match of the CONCACAF Champions League group opening round.

Dos Santos was recently acquired from Villarreal FC after spending time with Mallorca, Racing Santander, Galatasaray, Ipswich Town, Tottenham Hotspur and FC Barcelona prior to that.

The forward has also spent time with the Mexican national team, most recently playing for coach Miguel Herrera in the 2014 World Cup.

The Galaxy outshot their opponents 19 to three. Ten of those shots by the Galaxy were on goal, compared to just one shot on goal collected for Central FC.

Central FC plays in the TT Pro League, which is a league based out of Trinidad and Tobago, and serves as the top division for professional soccer competition in the country.

Galaxy forward Alan Gordon started the scoring early by scoring in the 4th minute of Thursday's contest, but just two minutes later, Central FC's Ataullah Guerra scored after being awarded a penalty kick.

After Guerra's early goal, the Galaxy took control and scored four unanswered goals.

Raul Mendiola scored in the 32nd minute, while US Men's National Team member Gyasi Zardes scored in the 55th minute off a penalty kick.

Dos Santos then came on as a substitute and promptly scored in the 76th minute, and Ignacio Magnanto put one in the net in the 84th minute.

The next match for the Galaxy is against the Sounders FC club and will take place Sunday.
