'My Baby Is Gone': Mother Devastated After Son Is Shot To Death In Fullerton Alley

FULLERTON (CBSLA) — An online feud may have led to the fatal shooting of a man who was found dead in a Fullerton alley.

After several reports of gunshots and the sound of a car peeling away in a Fullerton neighborhood at about 11:40 p.m. Wednesday, officers responding to the calls found a man with several gunshot wounds in the 3000 block of Topaz Lane. He is believed to have been shot on Garnet Lane, about a block away.

Giesela Tanner identified the man as her 28-year-old son, Ellis Reed.

"My baby is gone. My baby is gone," Tanner cried with tears streaming down her face, as a friend hugged her. Reed was her only child.

"My son was the sweetest person you ever want to meet. And he was loved here in the neighborhood. He worked very hard, loved everybody," she said.

Tanner said that she told police that she has been looking through her son's social media posts, which indicate he may have been having an online feud with someone. But either way, she is hopeful someone will come forward with information about the shooter.

"I do understand that people don't want to give up their name or anything. I understand that. I just want the information," she said.

Investigators at the scene interviewed witnesses to get a description of the shooter, and searched the area for any possible security video.

Police say the neighborhood has had some gang activity in the past, but it's not clear if the shooting was gang related.
