Norwalk Pastor Gets 6 Years For Sex Assault On Parishioner

NORWALK (CBSLA.com) — An associate pastor at a Norwalk church was sentenced this week after pleading no contest to sexually assaulting a parishioner during prayer.

Jorge Castro entered the plea to the 2010 attack of a woman that occurred during a prayer session at Las Buenas Nuevas Church.

"As Castro was praying over her, he sexually assaulted her," said Sarah Ardalani with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

He reportedly told the woman that the sex act was part of the healing process. The victim, who was in the country illegally, spoke only Spanish.

Detectives said they worried Castro may have had more victims who were afraid to come forward due to their legal status, reported KNX 1070's Megan Goldsby.

"Castro was sentenced to six years in state prison. In addition to that, he will have to register as a sex offender for life," Ardalani added.
