Flames Pour Out Of High-Rise Apartment Building In Riverside

RIVERSIDE (CBSLA.com) – Two hundred people were displaced Thursday after a five-alarm fire tore through a senior living facility located in a high-rise building.

According to the Riverside Fire Department, crews responded to the 3900 block of Tenth Street around 1 a.m. for report of a fire burning at Mount Rubidoux Manor.

Upon their arrival, firefighters located flames and smoke showing from an apartment located on the tenth floor of the building.

Paramedics transported an elderly woman to a nearby hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

Residents were displaced due to fire damage in the building, which houses low-income seniors and persons with disabilities.

CBS2's Jasmine Viel said all of the residents, except those who live on the tenth floor of the building, have been allowed to return home.

No other injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
