It happened around 9:17 a.m. in the 10000 block of Glenoaks Boulevard in Pacoima, between homes in the area.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded to the scene to find that one person had been trapped beneath a fallen cinder block wall, while two other men at the construction site sustained injuries from the incident.

Javier Calderon, 49, died at the scene.

The two other men,  ages 42 and 45, were hospitalized with minor injuries, the LAFD reported.

The Los Angeles Times reported that Calderon's 27-year-old daughter Monica would like her father to be remembered as more than just a construction worker, as he was referred to on the day of the accident.

She said he was a busy but family-oriented husband, father, grandfather and friend.

When Calderon was 14, he immigrated to the United States from Morales Mexico. His daughter said he was a rebar installer, who loved backyard cookouts, according to the LA Times. He was scheduled to have a marshmallow-toasting campout with his granddaughters the day following his death.

Calderon's family has set up a GoFundMe account to help raise funds for funeral expenses.
