Firefighters respond to Major Emergency fire at Encino home
Fire crews are responding to a Major Emergency structure fire in the 15800 block of West High Knoll Road in Encino, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The Royal Oak Fire broke out around 2:28 p.m. Friday at a 17,000-square-foot three-story home under construction. Around 92 LAFD personnel are assigned to fight the fire, including one LAFD helicopter.
As of 3:22 p.m., fire crews were in a defensive posture, pouring water onto the burning structure from the exterior.
Around 4:45 p.m., the fire was upgraded from a Greater Alarm to a Major Emergency status. "It is a deeply entrenched and stubborn fire," LAFD said. 133 LAFD personnel transitioned from a defensive to a limited offensive operation.
"The flames remain confined within the structure of fire origin," LAFD explained.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There are no reports of injuries.
