Firefighters knock down 5-acre brush fire near Dodger Stadium

Firefighters extinguished a brush fire Friday in Elysian Park that burned approximately five acres of vegetation, that was burning near Dodger Stadium. 

The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to the 400 block of Solano Avenue, near Amador Street, around 2:35 p.m. to a report of a light brush fire that had burned less than two acres, according to Margaret Stewart of the LAFD.

Around 3:25 p.m., five acres of brush had burned, prompting fire crews to establish hose line operations around the entire perimeter, Stewart said. 

The fire was contained at five acres shortly after 3:50 p.m., and fire crews began conducting a clean-up operation and would remain on  scene to ensure all hot spots were extinguished.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There are no reports of injuries. No structures were threatened.
