Man Found Dead, Firefighter Injured From Blaze at Commercial Building
FLORENCE (CBSLA) - A man who was seen entering a burning commercial building in the Central Alameda area of Los Angeles Monday afternoon was found dead by fire crews who searched the structure.
The blaze was reported just after 3:35 p.m. at the one-story building at 1001 E. 60th St. and was fully extinguished about an hour later, according to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
He said one firefighter suffered a non-life-threatening injury in a 4- foot fall from a ladder that occurred during the firefight and was taken to a hospital for treatment. No other injuries were reported.
The victim was seen entering the burning building before the LAFD arrived, Humphrey said. Firefighters reported just before 5:45 p.m. that the man was found dead inside the structure. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.
According to a broadcast report, two employees ran back into the building, and the other person got out unharmed.
