Firefighters control Third Alarm blaze at commercial structure in El Monte after four hour battle

Over 100 firefighters battle Third Alarm fire in El Monte

Los Angeles County firefighters in El Monte are battling a fire at a one-story commercial building in the 4600 block of Arden Drive.

The blaze broke out around 10:30 a.m. Saturday. 

Over 100 firefighters were on hand to assist with the situation, using multiple 100 foot ladders to battle the flames from above. 

The fire was upgraded around 11:47 a.m. by firefighters from Second Alarm to a Third Alarm fire, the Los Angeles County Fire Department reported. Crews were in defensive mode as worked to contain the fire to just the one building.

At 2:49 p.m., it was reported that fire was knocked down, after more than four hours. Crews indicated that the structure suffered significant damage, and called Los Angeles County Division of Building and Safety crews and arson investigators to the scene.

It is unknown if any injuries resulted from the blaze.
