Fire In Downtown LA Building Reveals Drug Lab

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Firefighters quickly doused a blaze in a six-story building in downtown Los Angeles, but a hazardous materials team has been summoned when a drug operation was discovered inside.

LA city fire spokesman Eric French said some 88 firefighters put out the fire in 14 minutes after flames were reported coming from the building's third floor on Thursday night.

Firefighters found that the building housed drug lab and marijuana growing operation and called in a hazmat team that determined the site was safe.

Investigators from the police and fire departments are looking into the cause of the blaze, and police have begun a criminal investigation at the building.

No injuries were reported.
