Fatal Shooting Outside Inglewood Yoshinoya Is Caught On Video

INGLEWOOD (CBSLA.com) — The fatal shooting of a man outside of a Yoshinoya restaurant this weekend was captured on video but no arrests have been made in the case.

The attack on an unidentified male in his 40s happened just before 4 a.m. Sunday in the 10000 block of Hawthorne Boulevard and prompted a chase.

On Monday, an Inglewood police detective gathered security video from a shopping center nearby.

"It's very sad. Unfortunately, this is a high-crime zone. It has been for years," said Manny Escobedo, a lifelong Inglewood resident.

The owner of a mobile phone store allowed CBS2 to view video of the incident but did not provide it for broadcast.

The video shows a white compact car pull into a parking spot. The victim is seen exiting from the passenger's side, walking a few steps, and speaking to a second person for a few moments.

Two minutes later, the suspect vehicle is seen backing into a parking spot. A passenger emerges and allegedly draws a gun and shoots, CBS2's Jeff Nguyen reports.

Following the shooting, Nguyen reports that the suspect's car was seen driving away and prompted a pursuit.

Investigators said three men bailed out of the car around 117th Street and Lemoli Avenue. Officers with police dogs and armored vehicles went door-to-door but weren't able to locate the suspects.

Citing an ongoing investigation, authorities aren't releasing any details surrounding the shooting.

"Only God knows but it's very unfortunate. It could've been me. It could've been you," Escobedo said.

The identity of the victim has been withheld pending notification of next of kin.
