1 Killed In 2-Car Crash On Northbound 405 Freeway In Sepulveda Pass

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) — A man was killed early Tuesday in a crash on the northbound 405 Freeway in the Sepulveda Pass.

A big rig hit a stalled SUV about 4 a.m. at Bel Air Crest Road, according to the California Highway Patrol. Wreckage and debris was scattered across several lanes.

A man in a 2014 Dodge Journey was killed. He has not yet been identified. A 32-year-old Los Angeles woman was also injured in the crash.

A CHP collision report said that 49-year-old Craig Zackery, of La Habra, was driving at an unsafe speed behind the SUV and collided into the rear of the semi.

Three right lanes were shut down well into the morning rush hour commute and brought traffic on both sides of the freeway to a slow crawl.

The Sigalert was canceled just before 11 a.m. and all lanes were reopened.
