Ex-LAPD Officer To Face Murder Charges In Pomona

POMONA (CBSLA.com) — A former Los Angeles Police Department officer sought in connection with the shooting death of a man is expected to be brought back to Pomona on Wednesday.

Henry Solis, 27, is accused of fatally shooting Salome Rodriguez Jr., 23, during a fistfight outside of a bar in Pomona on March 13.

Police explained Solis, who worked for the LAPD since June 2014, was linked to the crime through evidence left at the scene. He was fired less than five days after the incident occurred.

According to the FBI, Victor Solis, his father, drove him to El Paso, Texas, and dropped him off at a bus station. Solis then reportedly fled to Mexico.

On May 26, federal officials announced Solis was detained in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, after he allegedly put up a struggle with Mexican authorities.

The FBI then brought him back to the U.S., where he remained in federal custody.

According to the Pomona Police Department, officers were sent to pick up Solis in Texas. They are expected to return later today or on Thursday.
