Employee dies from wounds suffered during shooting at Santa Paula store

The victim of a store shooting in Santa Paula has died more than a week after he was wounded, police say. 

It happened back on Dec. 11 just before 6 p.m. at the "Thomas 99 Cent Plus Store," located on Harvard Boulevard, according to Santa Paula police. 

Georges Touma, 50, was wounded in the shooting and remained in critical condition until Sunday when he died, police said. 

"Detectives are focusing on any information from witnesses on Harvard Blvd. including areas near the store and surrounding neighborhoods before, during and after the crime occurred," said a statement from SPPD. 

Circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation, and police are asking anyone with more information, including possible surveillance footage from nearby stores or homes, to contact them. 

There was no information provided on a suspect or motive in the incident.
